Villa reroof and skylights in Mount Eden

A hipped villa roof, with new VELUX roof windows and roof ventilation

0.55 BMT COLORCOTE® ZinaCore corrugate, Grey Friars

A hipped villa roof where every face was a different length, so the offcuts were planned face by face to cut waste, with two leaking skylights replaced by new VELUX roof windows.

A full roof replacement on a villa-style home in Mount Eden. The old long-run iron came off and was replaced with 0.55 BMT COLORCOTE® ZinaCore corrugate in Grey Friars, roll-formed by Dimond Roofing.

The house has a hipped roof, and that made the sheet planning the interesting part of this job. On a hipped roof you can usually flip the offcuts from one side to the other, and we did that here. But each face was a different length, so we had to think carefully about where every offcut would go, and plan the flips so we used the sheets well and kept wastage down.

The two existing VELUX skylights were old and leaking, so we replaced them with two new VELUX GGU roof windows. You can read more about how we approach skylight installation.

We also installed under-sarking roof ventilation vents. They let air travel up from the blocked-in sarking, into the ceiling space and out through the apex.

We worked with PKWS, who installed new COLORSTEEL® quarter round spouting in Grey Friars.

As part of the wider project on the property, we put the owner in touch with Elite Insulation to assess the insulation, which was then upgraded.

We brought in our builders, Protea Build, to replace the weatherboards in four places where the apron flashings meet the main house, so those junctions could be waterproofed properly.
