Decramastic reroof in Blockhouse Bay

Old Decramastic tiles replaced with Slate corrugate, plus new fascias, barges and insulation

0.55 BMT COLORCOTE® ZinaCore corrugate, Slate

Every rotten fascia and barge board was replaced, and the 21 metre long, dark roof needed multiple expansion joints in the ridge flashings.

A full reroof on this brick home in Blockhouse Bay. The old Decramastic tile roof was dented and leaking, the spouting was sagging and overflowing, and the fascia and barge boards were cracked and rotting. The ceiling insulation was old and no longer up to the Healthy Homes standards for rentals.

We started by taking off all of the spouting and removing every fascia and barge board. Working alongside our builders, Protea Build, we replaced them with new treated timber to get rid of all the rot, then prepped, primed, sanded and painted them.

Next we removed the Decramastic tiles and all of the old ceiling insulation, and installed new Bradford Gold ceiling insulation supplied by Elite Insulation. Protea Build also helped fit new timber purlins to the roof framing.

With the insulation and purlins in, we laid Thermakraft Covertek 215 underlay and installed the new roof: 0.55 BMT COLORCOTE® ZinaCore corrugate in Slate, roll-formed by Dimond Roofing. The building is 21 metres long, and a dark roof this long moves a lot as it heats up and cools down, so along with new barge flashings we built multiple expansion joints into the ridge flashings.

For the guttering we used 125 mm COLORSTEEL® box gutter in Slate. On a brick home like this, we felt a box gutter would look a lot better than standard spouting.

There were a lot of parts to this job, but the property now looks much better. With a brand new roof, sound timber and new insulation, it's a much warmer home too.
